Radar Tires Racing and Bronson Motorsports Seeking ‘Home Track’ Wins at LOORRS Rounds Five and Six

| May 28, 2013

Radar Header 1111111Following a rough start to the 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season, Mike Johnson, driver of the No. 31 Bronson Motorsports Toyota Tacoma sponsored by Radar Tires, took a vacation to Costa Rica following the Las Vegas races in April.  Johnson’s goal – rid himself of the monkey on his back.

Sans the monkey, Johnson returned to California, refreshed, refocused and determined to finish on the Pro Lite Unlimited class podium for Rounds Five and Six of LOORRS at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Southern California.

Since luck was not on Johnson’s side in Las Vegas, the team’s secret weapon this weekend will be friends and family.  The Bronson Motorsports race shop in Murietta, California, is approximately 15 miles from Lake Elsinore.  Home dirt advantage should prove beneficial to the team, due to the local ties and April test session.

Radar tires 22222“I’m not interested in having another race weekend like Las Vegas, which is why June and I went to Costa Rica to dump that monkey,” Mike Johnson quipped.  “We race to win and that’s our plan this weekend at Lake Elsinore.  The guys have worked hard getting our Radar Tires Toyota ready because this will be our weekend to excel.  We have home track advantage and we know that place better than anybody.”

So far this season, Johnson has felt more like a pinball on the dirt track versus a racer.  The team calculates to date that Johnson has passed more of his competitors on track this season, as a result of early contact and then rallying back to finish.  In the opening rounds at Firebird International Raceway, Johnson earned 10th and 15th place finishes.  Then in Las Vegas, Johnson finished ninth and scored his first DNF of the season.

“I’ve passed plenty of the competition so far this season; we’ve paid our dues there,” Johnson continued. “We have the right equipment to charge to the front and win.  This is our track and our weekend to put Radar Tires on the podium.”

The size 32X11.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 tires this weekend will feature the Breast Cancer Research Foundation pink ribbon logo.  For every Radar tire sold, Omni United will donate $5 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) with a minimum annual donation of $200,000 and a maximum donation of $250,000.

Off-road motorsports was chosen by the newly-formed Radar Racing team to showcase the Renegade R5 M/T tire, which features open blocks for mud dispersion, deep tread blocks, and reinforced shoulders.  This tread pattern and rigorous construction is ideal for the surfaces encountered on short course tracks such as Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California and Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona as well as the open desert of Baja California in the legendary SCORE Baja 1000, the most iconic of all off-road races.
