Installing Rancho RS9000XL Shocks on a 2005 Ford F250
By Jon Crowley, UTVGuide.net
The RS9000XL are a massive new shock series that meet all the demands of recreational enthusiast and are perfect for hauling or towing heavy trailers, boats, UTV’s or campers. Rancho’s RS9000XL shock absorbers feature 9 position adjustable damping with a 2.75-in. diameter body, delivering greater oil capacity (up to 48-percent more). A massive shock body allows the RS9000XL to run more consistent & cooler even under the most demanding towing conditions, enhancing performance and durability, and is constructed with a larger than typical 18-mm diameter chromed piston rod.
Finished in new Liquid Metallic Silver, Rancho RS9000XL shock absorbers are fully compatible with the new SEMA-award winning MyRIDE™ Wireless Tuning System. The MyRide Tuning System includes the first-ever MyRide Wireless Controller that allows for wireless, remote tuning of RS9000XL series shock absorbers. The Wireless Controller includes a variety of one-touch presets, including Highway, Sport, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, and a driver-determined MyRide, which allows the owner to set his own preferred ride setting and save it for future use. Ideal for larger wheel and tire combinations, the new Rancho RS9000XL shock absorbers are available for lifted, lowered, stock and custom off-road applications.
The new RS9000XL shock absorbers are backed by the Rancho® “Ride Guarantee,” a 90-day free-ride offer that lets enthusiasts try RS9000XL shock absorbers for 90 days. Consumers can return their shocks within 90 days for a full refund of the product’s purchase price. The new RS9000XL shock absorbers are also backed by Rancho’s limited lifetime warranty.
Test Vehicle
Our test vehicle was a 2005 Ford F250 Superduty 4×4 Crew Cab Diesel. The truck has 60,000 miles on it and has done its’ fair share of towing – flat bed trailer, 24′ enclosed trailer and a UTV Rack.
The shocks I ordered were part # RS999254 and RS999042.
We drive our 2005 Ford F250 in all different configurations. Empty or loaded, the RS9000XL can adjust for every scenario.
Very happy with the Rancho RS9000 XL shocks. The ride is smoother when empty, but can be adjusted to firmer settings when towing or loaded.
One thing I really liked is how it handles curves when there are bumps or wash boards in the road. Before the whole truck would skip and it could be a bit dangerous. Now the trucks tires stick to the ground much more and I feel more in control.
