SUWA Spins Take Back Utah

For those of you that don’t already know, the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) is Utah’s resident radical environmentalist group. They are the group that sues the state, feds, and counties at every chance they get. They bring in about $4-5 million a year. They use their power gained by such large dollars to close public land. They are the chief architects of the 9.4 million acre Utah wilderness bill that is before congress. They are well funded and organized. They gain most of their support from outside our state. They have been known to be dishonest and outright liars. They will use any tactic to achieve their goal of “protecting” public land from folks like you and I.

They have issued a news release \ funding letter to their members. They spin our cause claiming it is a front for oil and gas companies. This is almost laughable. If we were a front we surely would have more money to spend and things would be more polished. SUWA knows this isn’t true but it certainly helps them create a straw man or boogie man that will aid them in raising more money. SUWA thrives or capitalizes on fear and half truths.

The heart of this event and movement is folks like you. Senators Hatch and Bennett, AG Mark Shurtleff, and Congressman Rob Bishop aren’t coming to this event because a few oil and gas folks support our movement. They are coming because of all of you. This event and future ones will show that it is the people that matter. But true to form SUWA twists the truth and attempts to turn a democratic and patriotic event into a source of profit for their organization. Like they need more money to close more roads.

Don’t let SUWA and their millions of donated east coast dollars close public land. Show up to our rally become active now and in the future. If you don’t we will lose much more.SUWA and their minions have already rose to the occasion. Will we meet them? Will we prevail? I certainly think so but much of that depends on you.

Did you know that when public land is closed to public access nearly every citizen of our state is harmed?

Access is essential to many things that affect our quality of life. It even has an impact on funding available for Utah’s public education system. From issues of energy independence to the quality of our children’s education, access to public land impacts us all.

Our movement will send a loud and clear message to elected officials, government agencies, the general public and radical environmentalists that the people of our great state will not roll over and allow our state and quality of life to be taken from us. We will not allow federally managed land to be used as a political pawn at our expense. We will not allow a radical few to determine what land will remain accessible to the public. Finally we will not allow politicians to sit by and do nothing on these issues while we suffer at the mercy of a federal government that takes harmful actions against our citizens.

Our government was designed to be by the people and for the people, but too many individuals and government agencies have forgotten or ignored these important foundational principles. This event will help change this.
