LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD RACING SERIES HIGHLIGHT OF 2009 SEMA SHOW

Corona, Ca. (November 9, 2009) – The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series made its debut at The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show November 3rd-6th, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each year hundreds of thousands of people attend the SEMA show to be at the epicenter of automotive technology as the newest innovations in aftermarket products and accessories are shown to retailers and distributors nationwide. Among the cutting edge products, show vehicles and grandiose displays, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) partnered with series sponsor Toyota to form what was surely the most exciting exhibit of the event.

Just outside the South Hall in the “Silver Lot”, Toyota and LOORRS constructed a miniature version of the series famed short course off road tracks within the Toyota “Proving Grounds.” Spectators were often seen running from the convention halls as the trucks came to life while large crowds lined the fences of the test track throughout the week. There at the track, show attendees were treated to an exhibition of eight hundred horsepower air time as drivers Jerry Daugherty, Travis Coyne and Bryce Menzies pushed their Unlimited 4 and Unlimited 2 trucks to their limits.

LOORRS Competition Director, Tony Vanillo, who oversaw the construction of the test track as well as facilitated the exhibition throughout the week, had this to say;
“We are grateful to Toyota and SEMA for inviting us to be a part of this event. We couldn’t be happier with the track and the crowds that came out to see what short course off road racing is all about. It was very exciting to watch the enthusiasm on people’s faces when they fired up the trucks and launched them over the jump. We’ve attracted an amazing amount of interest in short course off road racing and the series.”

In addition to the “Proving Grounds” display, LOORRS had a commanding presence at SEMA with additional vehicles shown by Carl Renezeder, Rodrigo Ampudia and Rob Naughton. Along with his existing Unlimited Lite Trucks, Naughton also debut his brand new Unlimited 2 truck that he will be racing at the upcoming LOORRS race in Primm, NV. This new truck owned by Team Owner/Manager Scott Bailey was honored as the winner of the prestigious Grand Tourismo Award in the Truck/SUV category. As a stand out among thousands of show entries, this award represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship in a show featuring the best the automotive aftermarket has to offer.
