I’ve seen it before, a rider crashes and his buddies just can’t wait to jerk his helmet off as he lies unconscious.

Any EMS person will tell you that removing a helmet from an injured rider is tricky at best and can permanently injure the rider.  Spine injuries are common in motorsports and the process of removing a helmet can make it worse.

Basically the spine is flexed, compressed and even twisted during removal of a helmet.

Enter the Shockdoctor Helmet Eject System.  Imagine a small airbag that is position into the crown of the helmet.

To remove the helmet he bag is slowly inflated raising the helmet from inside so no pressure is placed on the spine.

The Eject system can be inserted into a helmet before riding, a good idea if you are a racer, or after an accident by simply sliding a bag mounted on a narrow semi-rigid rectangular tool between the scalp and helmet liner.  With the Eject bag inserted then either a CO2 or manual pump slowly inflates the bag, popping the helmet off.

This thing really works and at $119 you can bet one is going in my first aid kit immediately.  Every first responder should have this in their kit and every event should have these onsite.
