White Wash Sand Dunes Temporarily Closed for Filming in May

| April 15, 2010 | 0 Comments

The White Wash Sand Dunes are scheduled to be closed from May 20-27, 2010, for a large filming operation. Originally, it was feared the Dunes would be closed for Memorial Day weekend, although the current date butts right up against the holiday, the May 20-27 closure leaves Memorial Day weekend open.

Please check for updates posted upon the Discover Moab website before planning a trip to the White Wash Sand Dunes. http://www.discovermoab.com/atv.htm

The closure of the Dune area, as well as some of the camping area, will be enforced by BLM, County and Utah Parks and Recreation law enforcement officers. The Dunes will be completely closed to public access; however, all the other roads and trails in the area will remain open for visitor use, including the recently designated Guys Trail to the Geyser, The Enduro Loop, Ten Mile Wash and others.

Duners may wish to make alternate arrangements should the filming conflict with holiday vacation plans. There are several alternative sand dune areas nearby. New Mexico’s Farmington Dunes Vehicle Recreation Area is an option, as well as Utah’s Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Sand Hollow and Little Sahara. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Idaho’s own St. Anthony Sand Dunes. For information on other dune riding areas, visit the excellent DuneGuide.com website: http://www.duneguide.com
