** There is a UTV Class in this race!! Be sure to sign up today!! **
RENO, NV MAY 18, 2010 – The Xtreme Outlaw 250 Desert race (XO250) will award this years over-all podium with $10,000 plus a spectacular “Six-Shooters” trophy will be given to the “First Ever Winner” of what will become one of the top races to compete in year after year. Grand Marshall Rod Hall, who has competed in all 42 Baja 1000 races and successfully won his class 21 times said, “I’ve designed a 250 mile course that is one of a kind, with my fingerprint all over it. You’ll experience the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s like your first hangover; one to remember.”
The 250 mile loop race is pulling off a first ever with the formal Green Flag being thrown just before a table top jump in the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot and will continue with speed controlled racing down the streets of Reno. When the cars and trucks hit the dirt they will throttle up and race through mountains and valleys east of town completing three loops, then back to the finish line jump at the GSR. “This is a very spectator friendly race, there is easy access to the northern pit area which will be situated nine miles east of Sparks at the massive new Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center,” explains Don Gilman of Off Road Innovations (ORI) of Reno. “The southern pit area will also be convenient and fan-friendly, located in historic Virginia City, with the cars actually racing down the streets one block off Main Street!”
This race is open to all desert racers that want to be a part of history in the making. “We are excited to announce that Speed Technologies, Voss Racing and other high profile drivers have committed to taking on Rod Hall’s course,” said Wes Harbor, VORRA’s Director. Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA), in their 35th year of racing the northern Nevada desert, will be the sanctioning body for this important race. “We have kept the entry fees at our low $450 VORRA rates to encourage all drivers to take on this experience,” explained Harbor. On-line registration is currently open at www.vorra.net. Confirmed Pre-Entries will secure your number and your participant gift.
