JT Taylor Crashes on Monarch Mountain
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO JULY 19, 2010 JT Taylor participated in the third race of the Colorado Hill Climb Association in Monarch Pass, CO and ended up on the side of the mountain on the first run of race day.
JT Taylor qualified with the fastest time in the Ultra4 Class. “This was a fun road, and the Goodyear Tires were gripping perfectly. We had a time that was pretty close to some of the open wheel cars,” said JT Taylor. On the first race run Sunday, the steering pump failed and he had to adjust quickly. With the steering not working, he hit his brakes as hard as he could, while trying to keep the car straight. He ended up sliding down the hill sideways, but luckily straight down the hill. “I don’t know how we didn’t roll. It was interesting!” said JT Taylor. The wrecker had to come and help recover the Tube Shark/Torchmate Rock Racer off the side of the hill.
Unfortunately, JT Taylor didn’t get to run the second run Sunday. “I am ok. If your going to go off, that was a good place and a good time to do it. In a hill climb race, its not if, its when.”
JT Taylor will have the Tube Shark/Torchmate Rock Racer rig ready for the next round of the XORRA in Cortez, CO August 7-8.
