It was blistering hot as we waited for the start of the race. We all lined up for a dead engine start. I was watching the flag right up until he dropped it, and at that second, I was looking at something inside the car! So, we got off the line about 4th out of 18 cars.
We got passed by a few in the silt but began picking them off as the air cleared. We were about 30 seconds behind the third place car when we rolled into the pit for a splash of gas and the crew noticed a low tire. They hustled and changed the tire but it felt like an eternity!
We had two more laps but just couldn’t catch up to the top 3. We completed the 6 laps and ended up in 4th place. Not too bad considering we are the only females racing in the pro class and have a fairly stock engine in the Rhino.
We are setting our sights on the Vegas to Reno race in August, so watch out boys!
