NORTH EASTON, MA SEPTEMBER 30, 2010: Lucas Murphy qualified for the 2011 King of the Hammers at the Rausch Creek Qualifier and came to the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch with one goal: To Win. He Did

Lucas Murphy, in his home built New England trail rig, took first place at the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch (SMORR) King of the Hammers qualifier located in Seymour, MO on Saturday July 10th. With miles of newly cut trails to complete, he cut his way through the competition to take the checker flag. “It was a sweet course, slippery climbs and smooth fast wooded trails, just how I like it,” said Murphy. With adjusted time at work, there was a 2 minute wait to see if any others would cross the line and push him out of the win. “That was an agonizing 2 minutes, but it came and went pretty fast,” stated Murphy who celebrated his first place finish in style!

Three months earlier, Murphy wasn’t the first finisher, but he was ecstatic to qualify for the 2011 King of the Hammers as the checkered flag waived. “I knew this race wouldn’t be won off the line and I was telling myself that it was a marathon not a sprint, but what fun not trying to be first off the line? We hammered it and surprisingly took the first corner in third place and I was freaking pumped,” remembers Murphy. It was a good day of racing, with lap traffic being more of a problem than any mechanical or driving issues. “I am just a lucky guy to have such great friends, family and sponsors. I am really proud to have been able to qualify for King of the Hammers,” exclaims Murphy.

Lucas Murphy RigWith a 23rd place finish at the 2010 King of the Hammers, 5th place finish at the Quadratec Rausch Creek KOH qualifier and the win at the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch event, Murphy took a 4th overall finish in the International Endurance Series (IEC). The Murphy’s Law Motorsports team has officially qualified for the 2011 King of the Hammers, and is ecstatic about the opportunities to come to the west coast and compete in the biggest race of the year.

About Lucas Murphy: Lucas Murphy grew up in Martha’s Vineyard as the youngest of 9. At the ripe age of 10, he started working for his Father repairing boats and doing salvage work in the family yard of over 100 vehicles. He started welding at 14, and would complete engine, axle and transmission swaps without hesitation. He got into 4wheeling as soon as he could legally drive on the beaches of the Vineyard, but didn’t take a true wheeling trip until 2006 after meeting some people online. In 2008, he built his current rig from scratch and the day he got his rig running was the day before his son Tracy James (TJ) was born. Murphy’s Law Motorsports was started with wife Trish and co-driver Jon Hastie on board. They have since competed in the King of the Hammers, RCRocks, Deep Woods Extreme Rock Crawl, Boulder Bash and various off-road trail rides. http://www.murphyslawmotorsports.com
