Norman Motorsports Fundraiser Raises $20,000 to Benefit FAST-Aid, Cruz Roja and the Emergency Services of Erendira at Dezert People 8 Premier
RENO, NV AUGUST 30, 2010 – Norman Motorsports in El Cajon, CA hosted a spectacular fundraiser raising $20,000 dollars for FAST-Aid, Cruz Roja and the Emergency Services of Erendira last Saturday August 28, 2010. Hundreds of the offroad community came together at the Norman Motorsports shop to enjoy a silent auction, charity gaming, a live band, Locos Mocos and Baja Pits taco stand and a bar stocked with Azunia Tequila, PBR, Rockstar and Pepsi. “This event brought a lot of people together including families who have lost their loved ones or were injured, and the driver involved in the recent accident at the California 200,” commented Roger Norman, host of the event and Trophy Truck driver. “I felt like there was a halo over the building and everybody was there to support each other.”
Dezert People 8 movie premier featuring the Crystal Bay Casino #8 Trophy Truck on the DVD cover and throughout the video played on a huge 16 foot screen and on 7 Plasma TVs throughout the shop. “I am extremely happy they were able to get such great footage of our team. Curtis Guise just keeps upping the bar and the Dezert People series just gets better and better,” smiles Norman.
Cruz Roja, known as the Red Cross of Baja, was represented by Miguel Ceballos who said “what I personally appreciate about the off road racing “family” are three things: “Unidad, Fueza y Passion” – Unity, Strength and Passion.” Cruz Roja offers services to the racers and community of Baja unconditionally.
FAST-Aid was founded to help injured racers and crew members in their recovery after an offroad accident. Jared Tetzlaff, President of FAST-Aid, told us he has been “overwhelmed and humbled by the response of the off road family all across the country and their outpouring of support after the California 200 accident.”
The Emergency Services of Erendira are in desperate need of an ambulance to properly assist locals and injured riders while in Baja. With the coordination from Tim Morton of Baja Bound Adventures, their needs may be answered soon.
The silent auction featured many different items including BFGoodrich Tires, Method Wheels, a Baja Bound Adventures 2 day trip, a hand illustration by Mark Pettit, Marks in the Dirt, one of three Baja 2000 banners ever produced, Dezert People packages, Mastercraft seatbelts, Rigid Industries lightbar and Furnishings from
William Sonoma and Pottery Barn just to name a few. The largest single donation of the night was $6,000 from Ramsey ElWardani to attend an Armin Schwartz 2 day Car Control Clinic on the ice in Finland.
“I am glad that we have the facility and ability to open the doors to events like these,” said Roger Norman. “It is a great way to get racers and fans together for great causes, and of course talk racing!” Norman Motorsports shop has been featured on Baja Garages on the Outdoor Channel and in Dirt Sports Magazine.
The next event at Norman Motorsports Complex will be December 4th benefitting the South Bay Community Centers, FAST-Aid and Cruz Roja. South Bay Community Centers assist San Diego area foster kids adjust as they come out of the foster system and begin to live a normal life. They assist with finding apartments and jobs and give the foster kids the support that they need to be successful. The event will be similar in nature to last weekends with charity gaming and auction items.
