Mooresville, NC (October 11, 2010) Scott Bloomquist and Roush Yates Engines combined for another spectacular weekend of Dirt Late Model racing on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway, winning the Lucas Oil “Dixie Shootout” and clinching the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Title.

Bloomquist has been driving Roush Yates powered engines most of the 2010 season and is proud to wrap up the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship with one race to go before the season ends. This is the eighth national driving championship for Scott Bloomquist and his 501st career win.

“This is what we worked for all year long, to win this Lucas Oil Championship again,” said the 46-year-old Hall of Famer.  “I have to thank my crew and my sponsors for their help all year. I want to thank Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, VP Fuels, Hoosier Tires, and Allstar Performance.  I’d also like to thank Roush Yates Engines; once again the motor was super.”

Bloomquist’s win marks the fifth of his career in the “Dixie Shootout” at Dixie Speedway.  He started on the front row and inherited the lead early from 4-time series champion Earl Pearson to record his season-leading ninth win.

“I am proud to be associated with a legendary Dirt Late Model racer such as Scott Bloomquist,” said Doug Yates, CEO of Roush Yates Engines.  “Scott has been a tremendous help in improving our Dirt Late Model program and we are excited to be able to power him to his second consecutive Lucas Oil Championship.”
