Maria Forsberg Takes Another Championship with Maxxis
As far as Maria Forsberg is concerned, the muddier the racing conditions, the happier she is.
That’s because the Washington state native learned to ride in an environment of near-constant rain. The 2010 GNCC women’s motorcycle champion says her favorite race of the season was Loretta Lynn’s, because “I like all the muddy races, the really yucky ones – that’s just what I’ve grown up with, so I feel more comfortable and used to that than the dust.”
Forsberg triumphed this season in both thick mud and swirling dust, winning every race but one by press time. She was optimistic about the remaining two events on the schedule. “I’m hoping to win the next one and then the following one, the last one in Indiana, I’m trying to talk them into letting me do the three-hour race,” she told MaxxDaddy.
For all of her races, she’s counted on Maxxis tires: “They’re awesome. I love Maxxis. I’ve been with Maxxis for a long time, and I really like them.”
The 24-year-old Forsberg has been riding nearly all her life. “That’s how my parents met. They met riding motorcycles, so me and my brother have been on bikes since we were about three. My dad came to one race this year, and my mom’s come to quite a few. My brother races locally around here,” she said.
She still lives north of Seattle, and makes time to run with her two dogs, a Yorkie and a Boxer-Rottweiler mix, as much as she can. (The Yorkie, amazingly, runs the same distance as her larger dog.) She also rides her mountain bike for relaxation.
Maxxis is proud to sponsor Maria Forsberg, and thanks her for choosing the brand of champions.
