Shoshone National Forest Begins Forest Plan Revision

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The Shoshone National Forest, located in northwestern Wyoming, is beginning the process to revise their Forest Plan. On September 24, 2010, a Notice of Intent (NOI) to revise the Shoshone National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan) and prepare an environmental impact statement was published in the Federal Register.

As explained in the Notice of Intent, they anticipate beginning public and cooperator meetings in early 2011. A draft Forest Plan and draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) are expected to be released by May 2012, with the final revised plan and final EIS by April 2013.

For information on the Forest Plan Revision, and current information on meeting dates, times and locations, visit their website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/shoshone/projects/planning/revision/revision_index.shtml.

The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your comments on the proposed action and need for change. Comments will be most helpful and should be submitted by November 19, 2010.

To submit comments on the NOI:

For more information about the NOI or the revision process, contact Olga Troxel, Acting Planning Team Leader, at (307) 578.5164 or otroxel@fs.fed.us.
