Vehicles Equipped With Radflo Suspension Sweep 2010 Ultra4 Championships

Fountain Valley, CA – November 2010: The suspension damping specialists at Radflo Suspension Technology have good reason to celebrate as the 2010 Ultra4 Series comes to an end. This was the first year that Radflo officially tossed their hat into the rock racing ring. The company has already earned worldwide recognition among off-road racing teams by producing one of the most successful lines of professional shock absorbers for motorsport applications. But this year’s accomplishments may just be the most persuasive demonstration of Radflo’s capabilities yet.

The season began in Johnson Valley, CA at the most notorious and challenging one-day off-road race on the planet, King of the Hammers. It was at this event that Radflo first laid its reputation on the line in front of the world’s top rock racing teams. The results could not have been more encouraging. At the completion of the 135 mile torture test, only 43 of the 100 vehicles competing managed to reach the finish line. Impressively enough, eight of the vehicles that finished the race were equipped with Radflo shocks.

However, the proudest moment for Radflo occurred when the first five vehicles crossed the finish line. Loren Healy completed the course in first place to capture the overall race win. Moments later, Derek West crossed the line in third place. Erik Miller finished the race shortly after in fifth place. All three drivers were running Radflo shocks exclusively, and as it would turn out, their success in the 2010 Ultra4 Series was just beginning.

King of the Hammers marked the first race of two separate Ultra4 Series championships for 2010. The first series, Grand Slam of Off-Road, required the driver to conquer multiple driving disciplines, including endurance racing, short course competition and highly technical rock crawling. Loren Healy continued to dominate the series by capturing another overall win at the Best in the Desert Silver State 300, followed by a very respectable fourth place finish at the Lands End Hill Climb in Colorado. The clear points leader at the end of the season, Loren received the title of 2010 Grand Slam of Off-Road Champion.

The second part of the series, known as the International Endurance Championship, is based on the same format as KOH. Competing drivers had to prove their merit on seemingly impossible rock obstacles while demonstrating equal proficiency in flat-out desert racing conditions. The next IEC race was the Rausch Creek Qualifier where Derek West captured the overall win followed closely by Erik Miller in second place. Loren Healy crossed the finish line in fourth position. The SMORR No Coast Qualifier was the final race in the series. A strong second place finish by Erik Miller earned him the series points advantage along with the title of 2010 International Endurance Champion. Derek West and Loren Healy finished the race in sixth and ninth places respectively.

At the conclusion of the 2010 Ultra4 Season, Radflo Suspension Technology was ecstatic to learn that both championships had been clinched by vehicles equipped exclusively with their shocks. Company owner Glenn Classen had the following to say, “This season has been truly amazing! I could not have asked for a better group of drivers to put our dampers to the test.” When asked about Radflo’s plans for the following season, Classen responded “We look forward to working with the same drivers in 2011. You can also expect to see a couple more familiar names make the switch to Radflo shocks. With our championship proven suspension products, highly talented driving force, and a little luck, we hope to repeat our streak of success next year.”
