Round 4 of the VORRA Offroad Series at Prairie City proved to be a much better weekend for our team than Round 3.

Damage to our desert car caused by a collision with the 1999 car in Round 3 could not be repaired in the short 3 week turn around between the October 10th and October 31st races so we had to quickly get our back up car prepped and readied for the VORRA Halloween Bash and final race of the 2010 VORRA series.

Saturday brought some rain showers in the morning and early afternoon but by the time the 4 o’clock practice session rolled around the rain had cleared and gave us a soft but tacky track to practice on.  VORRA had cut some new sections into the previous track which would prove to be an advantage for our XMF +6 with Walker Evans shock Polaris RZR as we could navigate the tight corners much easier than some of the other cars.  Following practice was qualifying which brought us a 2nd place spot behind the 1947 Polaris RZR of Derek McCabe and in front of the 1965 Kawasaki Teryx of Jon Crowley.  With a total of seven UTV’s, 6 RZRs and 1 Teryx, we were looking forward to some tight and fun racing on Sunday.

Third moto

Start of the third moto

The 1965 got the hole shot in moto #1 with our RZR right on his rear bumper.  It took a lap and a half to get around him but we could not shake him.  We took 1st place in moto #1 by a slim 1.088 seconds over the 1965 UTV of Jon Crowley.  We lined for up moto #2 in a reverse order of our moto #1 finish which put our RZR and the 1965 in the back row.  The #193 Polaris RZR of Ryan Strange got the hole shot but once again we were right on his rear bumper.  This time it took us 3 laps to get around the 193 and we pulled out to a 7 second lead for the win in moto #2.  We lined up for moto #3 in our finishing order from moto #2 and we chose the outside with the 1965 right next to us.  Once again the 1965 beat us to the first corner but by corner #2 we dove underneath on a tight right hander and never looked backed for a sweep of the three motos.

Final finishing order for the UTV’s:

Dennis Jean – #1959 – Polaris RZR

Ryan Strange – #193 – Polari RZR

Jon Crowley – #1965 – Kawasaki Teryx

Cody Bennett – #777 – Polaris RZR

Sean Cook – #1930 – Polaris RZR

Derek McCabe – #1947 – Polaris RZR

Ryan Drake – #1943 – Polaris RZR
