2011 Soboba Grand Prix Another Success

I think we ended up with about 41 UTV’s in the race itself and probably over 100 UTV’s in total if not more just running around the facility during the weekend. I will have to say my highlight of the weekend was the UTVUnderground/Daystar/Soboba Casino SOBOBA LEAP long jump contest. This event with off with people estimating around 1000 people lining up around the hillside to watch this exciting event. Turner (Monstrosity) going large and wadding his SR1 was terrifying but him getting out and telling me to GO BIG OR GO HOME was just epic! The guy is a hero in my book, he friggen has balls of steel! Tyler Winbury just threw it down going over 90ft to take the big $2000.00 purse home and set what we think is an un-official new world record. Bobby was no slouch himself!! he flew his Teryx well over 80ft! Hell Big Mike’s son took the 130hp RZR4 over 50ft! hahahah So awesome.

The race itself was everything we new it would be, exciting, huge, and hard! The land rush start was just mayhem, everyone trying to get to that first turn was comedy. Tyler hit someones tire and launched a wheelie, Bobby got to the turn first with Doug Mittag coming in a hot second in a stock 1000x Commander. By the end of the race the track had taken well over half the field out. Doug Mittag was leading most of the race in large part to the commander’s awesome power and those FOX Magnum Offroad tuned shocks, well and Bobby blowing the lead by going off course….lol..but then Dougie lost a tie rod with only a lap or 2 left putting him out. Tyler Winbury after only a lap or 2 got hit by some serious heat stroke forcing a driver change where our boy Code Rahders then took over only to end up flipping the car about 4 times down a 120ft canyon..lol…poor kid was alright but super bummed as was his dad Doug. Winbury’s were cool, they got something up there sleeve in regards to tin work and thankfully thats all that the car needs is some aluminum patched! One of the worst wrecks if not the worst wreck was RJ Anderson in the brand new Polaris RZR XP900, he also flew off a cliff and sustained some minor injuries, he was ok but definitely banged up. The XP900 from what I understand took a beating in the rollover which we thankfully got on in car camera!

In all the race ended in exciting fashion with our UTV Of The Year, a Bone stock RZR4 taking the checkered flag and the $5000.00 purse driven by Beau Baron who if I understand correctly also won the Pro Quad race! UTVUnderground racer and 2 time King Of The Hammers winner Mitch Guthrie got 2nd in his Polaris RZR, another Underground racer Brent Fouch 3rd in his Kawasaki Teryx, and I think both Garret George and Taylor George of team Funco Motorsports took 4th and 5th place in their Kawasaki Teryx’s with our boy LSRGreg getting 6th in his SR1.
