Chillicothe Welcomes New Attraction
After several years of listening to local riders and racers talk about needing a track in Ross County local business owner and resident Jeremy Forcum decided to take matters into his own hands and make that dream a reality. Opening to the public in the spring of 2011 will be the new AMA/District 11 sanctioned Chilli Town MX. It is located on the southwest corner of the Ross County Fairgrounds in Chillicothe, Ohio and is visible from the State Route 207 connector. Chilli Town MX (CTMX) is slated to host two full weekends of racing with open practice on the Fridays before the events. The race dates are May 14th and 15th and July 9th and 10th. Chilli Town will also be holding open practice sessions as soon as the weather breaks this spring so everyone can come and check out the new facility and give us a chance to tweak the track.
Chilli Town is going to feature a few things that currently no other track in D11 offers. With the track situated on the Ross County Fairgrounds property racers and their families, as well as spectators, can utilize the 1,300+ water and electric hookups in the campgrounds. Another feature that is going to be a great addition is the up-to-the minute race results posted on the Chilli Town website. The CTMX crew is also working with Horizon Communication in hopes to have free Wi-Fi installed before the first race weekend.
CTMX will have most all of the basics covered as well. The track has a 1 mile course that is laid out in a manner that will be challenging for all ages and make for some great racing. The starting area will be equipped with a 40 man starting gate and a long slight up hill start stretch ending in a right hand turn. The spectator areas will leave nothing to be desired. There will be several bleacher sections set up around the track for ample seating. There will be several vendors set up as well to cover most any need that one might have such as food, drinks, bike parts, bike service, etc. There will also be a RV septic dump station available for departing race fans! CTMX will be running their own series and giving awards for racers that attend all four races. Jeremy Forcum is calling CTMX a Pro-Racers Paradise because he is going to be offering large Pro purses at all of his events.
The CTMX crew is working really hard to add another great racing facility in southern Ohio. Jeremy and his staff have a lot of great things in the works to make CTMX’s first season a big success.
Be sure to check out their website at www.chillitownmx.com or Facebook for upcoming announcements.
