Fabtech RZR at Parker 250 Video
By Sean Cook, Fabtech RZR Racer
The Fabtech RZR was 17th off the line at the Parker 250, the Rzr was running in top form so much so that by the end of the first 80 mile lap we had moved up to 5th place. We experienced a near perfect first lap, no flats or other mechanical problems.
The RZR pitted for fuel and routine driver change, driver Sean Cook exited the vehicle and Jeff Palhegyi got in behind the wheel while co-driver Colton Cook stayed on board as navigator. The RZR was off on the second lap when at around mile marker 12 Colton radioed in that they thought they had lost a clutch belt. After examination they realized that when the motor revved up it wasn’t because of the belt but because they lost the rear differential.
The team was determined to keep moving forward so they opted to put the car in 4 wheel drive and off they went. The RZR was moving along at around 50mph when Palhegyi made a move on a slower vehicle, as he made the pass he ran out of road. He was forced to let off the throttle and get back in line but as he reengaged the throttle he lost the front differential.
The team was done but only after giving it all they could, this was the first desert race in the new Fabtech RZR.
Everything else on the car worked flawlessly, the rougher the course became the better our car handled. We have already replaced the front and rear diff with the help of Holz Racing.
The team is gearing up for the next race which will be the Adelanto GP.
