Team Jean XMF Polaris Razor Takes Adelanto GP

With the VORRA Offroad season starting in March we decided to run the Adelanto GP to shake out any bugs in our new XMF roll cage and the adjustments made to our short course UTV over the winter.

The GP has a 70 minute plus UTV race run on a hybrid desert/motocross track 4 mile long course. There were two classes in the race, one class for UTV’s over 850cc, which had one entry, and one class for UTV’s under 849cc, which had 12 UTV’s entered. We were using our short course Polaris Razor UTV with the XMF +6 suspension, Walker Evans shocks, Hiper wheels and ITP tires.

There was no pre-running allowed so as we lined up for the start we could only hope we had set our suspension up correctly for the hybrid course. Off the start we led the short sprint to a left hand turn followed by another left, then a right, three table tops and then off into the desert portion. The desert portion of the course was extremely rough from 2 days of motorcycle and ATV races and had short straights aways and tight turns. After approximately 3 miles we re-entered the motocross track with a typical layout of doubles and tight turns which took us back to the start line. Luckily we had hit the right set up and after the first lap had opened up a 1 minute plus lead over the 2^nd place UTV of Sean Cook. We attempted to catch the 8500cc plus UTV of Thomas Ward but we were not able to quite catch him and back off and to a 7 minute win over 2^nd place in the under 849cc class.
