Ford FR9 Takes Nationwide Series by Storm

| March 24, 2011

Fitzpatrick will run FR9 Power for Baker Curb Racing in Fontana

The Ford FR9 engine has made a lot of noise in the Nationwide Series this year and teams are beginning to notice. J.R. Fitzgerald and Baker Curb Racing will be switching over to a Roush Yates FR9 powered Mustang this weekend as they head to Fontana for the Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway.

The Roush Yates FR9 Ford has proven to be a winner in the Sprint Cup Series and now is beginning to make its mark on the Nationwide circuit. With two poles in the last two races and eight top-10 finishes this season; Fitzgerald is excited to have his turn with the FR9 under the hood of the No. 27 Mustang.

“I’m pumped to be getting back in the car this week,” said Fitzpatrick. “The most important thing for me is to take something from every opportunity behind the wheel and racing against this field. It’s great to be able to compete on the same level as all these drivers, including the Sprint Cup guys.”

Fitzgerald will drive the No. 27 Baker Curb Racing Ford Mustang with support from Schick Hydro and Energizer Canada. This will be the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Runner-up’s second Nationwide start.

“I’m excited to have Fitzgerald and Baker Curb Racing on board with our engine department,” said Doug Yates, CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The FR9 has been able to give all of our Nationwide drivers a noticeable increase in power and performance and I look forward to this weekend’s race.”
