PIAA Sponsorship Shines on HCR Racing
Helps Power Team to Success at King of the Hammers
PIAA’s latest UTV sponsorship commitment is with HCR Racing, a multi-car, family-driven team and manufacturer based in Cedar City, Utah. And the alliance has already paid immediate dividends, said PIAA Powersports Vice President Gordon Robertson, as HCR Racing scored impressive results at the recent King of Hammers desert enduro in California.
With the PIAA partnership, all HCR Racing UTV’s will be outfitted with PIAA’s proven HID 6-inch Shock Lamps. In addition, HCR Racing will be recommending PIAA product to its race customers; HCR is a leading developer of performance and competition products for the UTV industry.
And the PIAA-HCR hook-up got of a great start at the King of Hammers. HCR Racing’s UTV assault across the desert included three Polaris RZRs, a Kawasaki Teryx, and an Arctic Cat Prowler XTZ. The RZR of Damon Cardone and Nate Copp finished fourth overall, with the HCR RZR piloted by Joanne Gonzales and Brittney Cardone placing fifth overall and first among woman finishers. The Prowler XTZ HCR entry, driven by Buzz Bronsema and Shon Wilson, finished seventh overall, despite various mechanical gremlins.
King of the Hammers is considered the “Toughest Race of the Year” on the ATV-UTV race circuit. “This is the most brutal race on equipment known to man,” explained HCR team director Damon Cardone. The King of the Hammers takes place in Johnson Valley, Calif., an area known to the off-road community as “The Hammers,” with trails named “jack hammer,” “sledge hammer,” and the like.
