Mike Vanden Heuvel is set to tear up the track in Crandon, WI on June 18 & 19

| June 15, 2011

For the first time in over 30 years, there will be a different Vanden Heuvel behind the wheel of the famed No. 77 Maxxis Tires sponsored Chevrolet at the “Big House” known as Crandon International Raceway.

Mike Vanden Heuvel is primed and ready to show the off road community that Dan “The Flying Dutchman” Vanden Heuvel isn’t the only member of the family who can tear up the track.  After winning the championship in the Limited 2WD class for 2010, Mikey is ready to take on the challenge of the Pro 2WD class this year.

This may be his rookie season in the Pro 2WD class, but Mikey is veteran at this track.  He has already taken the checkered flag in different classes in Crandon and is looking to add a podium finish in the Pro 2WD class to his already impressive racing resume.

Not only does this young star know how to get it done on the track, he knows how to get the fans more involved.  After an incredible roll in the previous rounds of racing at Red Bud, Mikey made the best of a bad situation by heading in to the crowd with broken body panels of the No. 77 Chevrolet, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.  Young competitors like Mikey are gaining the attention of the fans and the sponsors.  Companies like Amsoil are seeing the value to adding young new Pro drivers to their stable.  Already a long time supporter of Dan Vanden Heuvel and the Flying Dutchman Off Road racing program, they have stepped up and welcomed the rookie with open arms.

Come out to the track and watch this young gun continue to make an impact on the sport of Short Course Off Road Racing.  If you can’t be there live, visit www.ustream.com to catch all the action LIVE online.

Mike Vanden Heuvel Quote:

“I’ve been coming to this track since I was just a kid and I love coming back every year. This is like a home track for me.”

Dan Vanden Heuvel Quote:

“How cool would it be for Mikey to finish on the podium on Father’s Day weekend.”

Come on out to the Crandon International Raceway to see the fender to fender racing action for yourself this Father’s Day weekend.  This is set to be an event you won’t want to miss.
