Roush Yates Engines Score Wins During Off Weekend
It may have been an off weekend for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but Roush Yates Engines were running (and winning) across the country in drag racing, sprint cars, NASCAR Nationwide series, and the Grand-AM series. Roush Yates drivers scored four different wins over the weekend, dominating races with their superior horsepower.
Jack Roush Jr. won his third race of the year in the Continental Tire Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Saturday. Roush and co-driver Billy Johnson took their Roush Yates powered Ford Mustang 302R to victory lane for the second straight time at the Millville,NJ, road course. The Roush Performance team is second in points in the Grand-AM Continental Tire Series championship.
Carl Edwards dominated the NASCAR Nationwide series Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville on Saturday night. “Concrete Carl” led 125 of the 225 laps on the 1.33 mile concrete track to earn his fifth win at Nashville and fifth win of 2011 in the Nationwide series. Edwards’ Roush Fenway teammate and fellow FR9 engine driver Ricky Stenhouse finished second.
“The car was unreal tonight,” said Edwards. “It was super fast. Ricky’s car was also fast. I’m so proud of how this team has performed all year long.”
TG Paschal took home the win in the Super Rod division at the IHRA race in Jackson, South Carolina. Paschal races a small block Ford built by Roush Yates at their Mooresville, NC facility. Roush Yates’own Sandy Wilkins was runner up in the Top Sportsman division in Jacksonville.
Chuck “Cobra” Hebing was a favorite at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, NY, on Saturday. Hebing won the sprint car race, beating out series regulars such as Robbie Stillwaggon, Barger, Zemken and Shawn Donath. Hebing is currently the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints points leader with his Roush Yates 360 motor.Roush Yates drivers have won 16 races in 2011 in three different Sprint Car series.
