FOX News Features Roush Yates Going Green

| September 19, 2011

FOX News Channel featured Roush Yates Performance Products throughout the day on Saturday in a national broadcast. Their “NASCAR Going Green” story featured Roush Yates’ used parts business and how more effort is being made by the NASCAR community to recycle. FOX News focused on Roush Yates’ ability to effectively restore and recycle parts from NASCAR’s top teams and bring them to the grassroots level of racing.

Roush Yates Engines raced all over the country this weekend, collecting impressive wins in multiple series of racing. Scott Bloomquist, Josh Richards, Chris Buescher, Starworks Motorsports, and Roy Hill used their Roush Yates power plants to lead the competition and bring home the checkered flag.

Bloomquist earned his 12th and 13th win of the season in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, taking the checkered flag at Winchester Speedway on Friday night and at Virginia Motor Speedway on Sunday. In Friday’s Verizon Wireless 50, Bloomquist took the lead on lap eight and had to fight off several challenges from rival Jimmy Owens to complete the victory. Sunday’s victory came a little easier, with rain shortening the race to only 31 laps. Bloomquist grabbed the lead for good at lap 24 and was ahead of Steve Francis when the rain started to fall. It was his first ever win at Virginia Motor Speedway.

“It sounds good to win both of these races; we had never won at either track. We knew we would get one eventually, the car was good all day,” said Bloomquist. “Francis and I raced close and clean and we both run Roush Yates Engines which were great today. Thanks to the fans for coming out today, it’s a shame the weather didn’t cooperate.”

Bloomquist’s weekend wins in Virginia allowed him to retake the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship points lead from Jimmy Owens.

Another driver to strive on dirt this weekend with Roush Yates power was Josh Richards in the World of Outlaws Series. Richards roared off the outside pole to grab the lead at the start of the 29th annual Pepsi Nationals at I-55 Raceway and never looked back, leading the entire event. This was Richards’ eighth win of the season, making him the top-winner for the series in 2011.

“My car was awesome tonight,” said Richards. “I was able to maneuver and have the car to be able to keep the momentum up to get by the lapped traffic. That was definitely the key to winning.”

Chris Buescher doubled his career wins in just two weeks. Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Jasper Engines & Transmissions/David Ragan Ford powered by Roush Yates, led 104 of 200 laps at Salem Speedway on Saturday to win the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic. The win marks his second in two races in the ARCA Racing Series and makes him just the second driver to earn multiple victories this season.

“It’s such a great feeling at Salem,” said Buescher. “We’ve had good runs here and suffered here, but it’s amazing for all these fans. This is where I made my first start, and now I finally get back and get a win here.”

Roush Yates found victory lane in Mid Ohio this weekend in the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype Series. Starworks Motorsports celebrated its first series win with drivers Ryan Dalziel and Enzo Potolicchio. The duo edged out series regular Scott Pruett to give Peter Baron his first victory in the No. 8 Riley Ford.

“In my head, I already decided it was going to be a victory or a wreck,” said Dalziel. “That’s what we had to go for. We needed this as a team. We had a great engine in the car and it’s just been a massive day for us.”

Roy Hill continues to amaze with his newly powered Cobra Jet Mustangs. Hill had a brand new Roush Yates engine at zMAX Dragway this weekend for the O’Reilly Autoparts NHRA Nationals and earned number one qualifier in the Super Stock division on Friday, setting a new track record.

Matt Kenseth will start on the pole in today’s rain delayed GEICO 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. The race will run at 12:00pm EST on ESPN. Visit www.roushyates.com for the latest news and follow us on facebook for updates throughout the day.
