Campbell Racing at the Best in the Desert Bluewater Desert Challenge
Shannon and Nick Campbell of Campbell Racing, driving the #1554 Dynomax Performance Exhaust Class 1/1500 Truggy battled the desert of Parker, AZ in the BITD’s Bluewater Desert Challenge. Qualifying for starting positions was a huge success for the Dynomax team claiming the 2nd position. The BlueWater Desert Challenge was a 2 day race, a total of 150 miles. Starting behind the leader in row 2, Campbell and long time racer Sam Berri would battle it out for the second place position off the start. Within a few miles Campbell would triumph. Trailing the leader, fighting the dust and barely keeping it on the wheels the Campbell brothers would make it to the front of the pack about 12 miles in. Holding the lead for the next 2 laps, they crossed the finish line physically in first but would take 2nd to Chuck Hovey by 7 seconds. On day 2, due to mechanical issues Hovey would not make the start leaving Shannon to take the pole position. Taking advantage of his position Shannon hammered it down. Running in clean air and widening the gap on the field. On the last lap with a nice lead, Campbell was struck with mechanical issues and was unable to finish the race.
Great weekend for the Dynomax/Campbell Racing gang, sometimes things don’t go as expected but that’s “Racing”.
