Ford Fiestas Claim Podium Clean Sweep in Rally de Portugal PORTUGAL (April 1, 2012) – Ford claimed a 1-2-3 finish with the Fiesta RS World Rally Car in Rallye de Portugal following a late-night decision to disqualify Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen for a technical infringement on their car. The decision means Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson claimed their maiden FIA World Rally Championship victory in this fourth round of the season. Evgeny Novikov and Denis Giraudet were promoted to second, while Ford World Rally Team’s Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson took third. Solberg now lies second in the drivers’ standings, just four points from the lead, after a remarkable recovery in Portugal. The 37-year-old Norwegian slipped to 13th, almost seven minutes adrift of the podium, after sliding into a ditch early in the second leg of this four-day event. Ford World Rally Team remains second in the manufacturers’ standings but has narrowed the gap at the top to just 12 points.

AMA Supercross
pr04-12-12_2Roczen Wins in Houston SX Lites HOUSTON, TX (April 1, 2012) – Red Bull/KTM’s Ken Roczen took his second career Supercross Lites victory and first win of the season at the seventh round of the AMA East Supercross Lites Series in Houston, Texas. Roczen, who is still recovering from the flu that plagued him last week, rode a solid pace in the first heat race to easily qualify into the main event with a third place result. On the first lap of the main event, Roczen completed a pass on Barcia for the lead and held it into the next circuit before his rival was able to reclaim the top spot. On the final lap with just a few corners to go, Barcia crashed and Roczen moved into the lead and eventually the checkered flag. Roczen’s win moved him into third place in championship point standings.

Lucas Oil MLRA / Dart Corn Belt Clash
pr04-12-12_3Vaught Rallies from 12th for Victory in I-80 Debut GREENWOOD, NE (April 7, 2012) – Will Vaught made his first racing trip to Nebraska a successful one with a victory Saturday at I-80 Speedway. The 25-year-old driver from Crane, MO, led the final seven laps with his Eibach Springs adorned Warrior Chassis for a $3,000 victory co-sanctioned by Lucas Oil MLRA and the Dart Corn Belt Clash.

MARS DIRTcar Series
Moyer Collects $5,555 at Muskogee with MARS DIRTcar Victory MUSKOGEE, OK (April 6, 2012) – Billy Moyer racked up his seventh feature win of the 2012 campaign and his 15th career MARS DIRTcar victory at the Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Friday, April 6th. Moyer ran second in his heat race on the big 1/2-mile and later rolled off from the outside of the third row in the ‘Charlie Fulton Memorial.’ During the course of the 55 lap feature event, the Eibach Springs equipped number 21 Victory Circle paced the field on a couple of different occasions, eventually grabbing the top spot for good on lap 34.

FIA GT1 World Championship / FIA GT3 European Championship
pr04-12-12_4Audi R8 LMS Ultra Wins World Championship; European Championship Openers INGOLSTADT, GERMANY (April 9, 2012) – The new Audi R8 LMS ultra enjoyed an extremely successful Easter weekend by claiming victories in the FIA GT1 World Championship and the FIA GT3 European Championship. On its first outing in the FIA GT1 World Championship the Audi R8 LMS ultra, the private team WRT fielded team enjoyed a pair of one-two race results in France. Stéphane Ortelli (F)/Laurens Vanthoor (B) won the qualifying race at Nogaro on Saturday as well as the main race on Monday – on both occasions from their team mates Oliver Jarvis (GB)/Frank Stippler (D). The FIA GT3 European Championship also started with a win for an Audi customer racing team. At the wheel of the new Audi R8 LMS ultra Marc Sourd, who races with team mate Grégory Guilvert, secured victory by more than a minute for team Saintéloc by driving tactically in the rain on Sunday.

NDRA Road Show
Parker Edges Breuer to Win NDRA Portion of Carolina Crown LANCASTER, SC (April 7, 2012) – Ron “The Bull” Parker adds another notch on his belt in front of a packed grandstand at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, South Carolina on Saturday night. The defending NDRA Champion took home a cool $3,000 and now takes over the points lead for the NDRA Road Show presented by Heintz Performance. As the green waved Parker quickly worked his way to the front. The first caution was for the hometown favorite Brandy Baker who went up in flames. After the restart, Rambo Franklin was able to pull alongside Parker and challenge him for the lead. They stayed side by side through the turns for most of the race until Rambo’s car began to fade. Parker’s Eibach Springs equipped Crate Late Model never faded, as he was able to maintain the lead for the remainder of the race.

USRA Modifieds
Humboldt Checkers Wave for Allen HUMBOLDT, KS (April 6, 2012) – John Allen, an Eibach Springs supporter, blasted his way into the record books Friday night at Humboldt Speedway by winning the first official USRA Modified feature of 2012. Allen’s closest nemesis was runner-up Justin “Whitey” Folk. The duo was tied for the lead at several points but Allen proved to be stronger off the corners in holding Folk to second. Allen followed up his win with a fourth place finish the following night at the Heartland Park Speedway in Topeka, Kansas.

Formula 3 Euro Series
American Michael Lewis to Launch 2012 Formula 3 Euro Series Season at Hockenheim LAGUNA BEACH, CA (April 6, 2012) – After earning the Rookie Championship and the title of Vice Champion in the 2011 Formula 3 Italia Series, American Michael Lewis will make the transition to the Formula 3 Euro Series and FIA Formula 3 European Championship this season as he continues his relationship with the PREMA Powerteam. Lewis will make his season debut at the opening round of the 2012 F3 Euro Series on April 27th-29th at the Hockenheim Circuit in Germany.
