Long Captures Pirelli World Challenge GT Victory in Utah; Braun Recovers for Second in GTS TOOELE, UT (April 28, 2012) – Eibach Springs lead the pack at the Miller Motorsports Park as Patrick Long, of Belleaire, Fla., checked out for the Pirelli World Challenge GT win at the Privacy Star Grand Prix Presented by Bondurant. Long took the overall win by 3.032 seconds in the No. 1 Privacy Star/Entrust/TruSpeed Porsche 911 GT3, averaging 96.168 mph in the 23-lap, 70.104-mile race.
In the GTS class, Eibach Springs teams and Kinetic Racing teammates Michael Galati and Colin Braun lead Peter Cunningham’s Eibach Springs equipped No. 42 RealTime Racing Acura TSX on the last circuit of the 23-lap race. Braun closed the gap to Galati, and the two were battling for the lead on the last corner of the 3.048-mile Outer Course configuration when the cars hit, sending both off course, and collecting Cunningham. Braun recovered to finish second, with Eibach Springs supported drivers Galati, Jack Baldwin, and Nick Esayian rounding out the top five. Shea Holbrook’s Eibach Springs adorned No. 67 Honda Civic ran amongst the front runners in all three of the weekend’s Touring Car division races, finishing sixth, fifth, and fourth, respectively.
AMA Supercross
Two Podium Seconds for Musquin and Roczen in Seattle SEATTLE, WA (April 22, 2012) – Red Bull/KTM Factory riders Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen made it a night to remember in Seattle, Washington with Musquin taking second in the SX Lites West Coast and Roczen doubling the fun in the Supercross division riding the KTM 350 SX-F. Musquin lead every lap in his Supercross Lites heat race en route to his first heat win on the season. In the feature, Musquin was in eleventh place by the end of the first circuit, but quickly worked his way into sixth by the halfway mark. On lap 10 he set the fastest lap time of the entire race before shooting past Will Hahn and Cole Seely to move into third. On the white flag lap, he made the pass on Eli Tomac and carried second place through to the checkered flag.
There was more action for the Red Bull KTM Factory team when Ken Roczen earned his first Supercross class career podium. In the main event, Roczen piloted his Eibach Springs equipped KTM 350 SX-F into second by the first corner. Roczen battled for the lead throughout the first half of the race before settling for the runner-up position.
United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS)
Gustin and Sanders Earn Podium Finishes at Salina; Sit 1-2 In Standings SALINA, OK (April 21, 2012) – A crowd of more than 3,000 hungry race fans greeted the USMTS Modifieds on April 21 as they made their first visit to the Salina Highbanks Speedway since 2004. With 41 drivers on hand, they did not disappoint the packed house as Terry Phillips and the Eibach Springs equipped Modified of Ryan Gustin fought it out for 30 laps before Phillips emerged with the victory. Phillips led the first 15 laps before Gustin edged ahead to be scored the leader on lap 16. Phillips bounced back to regain control the next time around and passed the flagstand as the leader for the next 11 circuits. With three laps to go, the relentless Gustin again wrestled the top spot away but Phillips powered back to the front and led the final two laps. Eibach Springs sponsored Rodney Sanders finished third and notched his sixth top-5 finish of the season. The Happy, Texas driver continues to lead Ryan Gustin in USMTS Casey’s Cup standings. After his Eibach Springs heat race victory, NASCAR personality Kenny Wallace managed a sixth place finish.
Dirt Late Models
Ray Cook Captures $2,000 Payday at Green Valley Speedway GLENCOE, AL (April 23, 2012) – Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, picked up his third feature win of the young 2012 racing season on Saturday night, April 21 at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama. Driving #27 Eibach Springs equipped MasterSbilt Gen-X machine, Ray laid down the fourth fastest time during qualifying and later won the dash to earn the pole position for the 30-lap feature event. The driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” grabbed the top spot at the drop of the green flag and led wire-to-wire to claim the $2,000 payday over Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Jake Knowles, Jackson Hale, and Brian Reese.
The Off-Road Championship Series (TORC)
Menzies Motorsports Returns to TORC as the Team to Beat CHARLOTTE, NC (April 23, 2012) – Teams from across the country traveled to the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the opening weekend for the 2012 TORC Short Course Off Road Racing season. Menzies Motorsports quickly reminded the competition that they are the team to beat, as Bryce Menzies and Ricky Johnson both qualified on the pole in their divisions. After settling for third on Friday night in the Pro 2 division, Menzies started in 4th on the second row in Saturday’s feature. The young driver patiently worked his way through the middle of the class and held second place by the half way caution. Menzies again pulled away from the rest of the trucks and ran a mistake free race and placed his #1 truck on the top of the podium.
Johnson was starting off the season the same way he finished it last year in the Pro 4 division, by being the one to catch. As soon as he made his way to the front, both nights saw the #1 Menzies Motorsports/Red Bull truck pull away and never look back. With the three combined weekend victories, Johnson and Menzies each lead the points standings in their divisions.
IMCA Modifieds
Carter Captures Second Victory at Southern Iowa Speedway OSKALOOSA, IA (April 25, 2012) – Cayden Carter visited the Southern Iowa Speedway victory lane for the second time in 2012 on Wednesday, April 25. Carter passed Jim Lynch for the lead in the MUSCO Lighting IMCA A-Modifieds, and never looked back en route to his second win as a rookie in the Modified division.
ARCA Racing Series
Kimmel Secures Podium Finish at Salem SALEM, IN (April 29, 2012) – Nine-time Salem winner Frank Kimmel found himself just three car lengths shy of a victory in his Eibach Springs equipped Toyota Camry after cutting the eleven second deficit that the leader and eventual winner had amassed at the halfway mark of the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200. After starting tenth on the grid, Kimmel found himself in the second position with 47 laps to go. The hometown favorite battled through lap traffic to capture his first podium of the season.
