Audi Earns Overall victory in Nürburgring 24 Hours NÜRBURGRING, GERMANY (May 20, 2012) – Audi has achieved yet another milestone by overcoming tough competition, an extreme pace, and erratic weather to conquer the Nürburgring 24 Hours. In the 40th running of the Eifel classic, the brand recorded its first overall victory with the new Audi R8 LMS Ultra. The German driver quartet of Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase, Frank Stippler, and Markus Winkelhock shared driving duties in the car entered by Audi Sport Team Phoenix. Christian Abt, Michael Ammermüller, Armin Hahne, and Christian Mamerow from Team Mamerow Racing completed the one-two success. The competition around the Nordschleife was regarded as a particularly brutal test of endurance this year. The pace of the eight different brands represented in the GT3 class was unusually high, and while many leading teams were struck by technical defects, the Eibach Springs Audi GT3 race car ran technically reliable for 24 hours.

Starting 11th in the 27 car field, Thorn wasted no time going to the front as he took over the second position by the twentieth circuit. Thorn stole the lead on lap 36 and began to work his way through lapped traffic before a caution on lap 91. pr06-01-12_7Formula 3 Euro Series
Podium Finish for Michael Lewis at Brands Hatch LONGFIELD, KENT, ENGLAND (May 19, 2012) – After qualifying 4th quick for Round 4 of the Formula 3 Euro Series, Michael Lewis was confident that he would do well for this morning’s race, and that confidence shined through as he finished the race in an impressive 3rd place. Lewis quickly vaulted into the third position at the start in his K&N Engineering, Eibach Springs PREMA Powerteam Mercedes-powered Dallara F312 Formula 3 car. Lewis fought off challenges from the fourth place competitor and maintained his third place position for the remainder of the 56-lap race to earn his first podium of the season. The second F3 Euro race of the day was a 20-minute sprint featuring 17 drivers. Because this second race has an inverted starting order of the top-8 from the first F3 Euro race, Lewis started in 6th position. The lights went out to begin the race and Michael made a bold start and immediately moved into 4th place by halfway through the first lap. Toward the latter stages of the race, Lewis held off any attempts to lose the position to score his second top five finish of the weekend.
