| June 5, 2012

HDRA_fw500_01RENO, NV – Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, HDRA has expanded the purse and added to the many events that will take place in the Reno, Nevada area the entire week of June 30th- July 8th at the Fireworks 500 race. A $25,000 bonus to pro classes, in addition to the already 60% payback, has been added by the Eldorado Reno, Resort and Casino that pays $10,000 to the overall race winner, and an additional $15,000 to be distributed between the rest of the pro classes who have a minimum of five cars in their class. To qualify you need to run the Eldorado Reno, Resort and Casino contingency sticker that the Eldorado will provide. No other sanctioning body comes close to the prize money HDRA is offering.

Due to the remote sections of the course IRC tracking will be used to monitor the race. To help the racers with the IRC tracking fees, the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino will pay $100.00 towards the $200.00 fee when you run the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino’s contingency sticker which they will provide. The IRC system has satellite tracking and includes a g-meter. If excessive g- forces are sensed, it sends a signal to IRC and the driver is contacted to make sure everything is ok. In addition to IRC tracking, emergency response teams will be stationed at the main pits as well as two other locations to enhance safety for all competitors.

The cloverleaf shaped course has most pits located within easy access of the start/finish line. You can easily cover those with a single pit crew. There is a pit on the longest section that is remote so Pro Pit will be set up there to provide pit services for your team for only $25.00 per car. To register for Pro Pit’s services email Pat at: propitpat@hotmail.com They will also be at contingency so stop in and sign up.

Due to popular demand, Wide Open Baja will be holding machine gun shoots on the 3rd and 4th. They may add additional shoot dates if needed, depending on the response. They offer a Mini Run & Gun that features fully automatic M16’s and a belt-fed M60. On the Big Run & Gun you will be shooting a fully automatic M16, Barrett .50 sniper rifle, M-60 and a .50 caliber belt-fed machine gun. All run & Gun tours feature instruction and supervision by military special ops and Special Forces trained guides who will teach you safety and proper operation of all firearms used. To sign up for a tour call the Orange County office of Wide Open Baja at: 949-382-7770.

HDRA_fw500_03Wide Open Baja, Arrive and Drive packages are still available for those who want to experience the race without having to own a team.
