Ups And Downs For Campbell Racing At V2R

| August 28, 2012

Campbellv2r1August 21, 2012 – Gilbert, AZ – The Monster Energy Team of Shannon and Nick Campbell made quick work after starting 8th in the Ultra4 class in their Class 1 desert car. Moving quickly through the field, the #4495 moved up four positions by Pit 1. Calling out mile markers the Campbell brothers let us know they had passed two more 4400 cars putting them 2nd in class. Having a 4WD vehicle did have its advantages but the ever changing Nevada terrain would take its toll.

Stopping just passed Pit 2 to make a tire change would result in the loss of positions. Pit 3 would be the first full stop, and after taking fuel and a fresh tire Shannon set out to close the gap. Making a pass at Mm116 and finally getting a break from the choking dust and a chance to open up the TurnKey LS7 would be short lived as something in the drivetrain let go. Pulling safely off the course they assessed the problem but agreed it was unfixable. Nick radioed Chase 1 and said those dreaded words all teams hate to hear, “we’re done.”

Recovering the vehicle and gathering the team was not the finish we were looking for but, the upside to this is that the 4400 class finished strong! Congrats to 4400 class winner Nick Nelson and all the teams who took on this 534 mile grueling race called “Vegas to Reno-the long way.”

Chase Crew-Thanks for taking the time to come out and work your tails off. I appreciate all that you do to keep me out and running: JT Taylor, Ryan Miller, Doug Steele, Pierre Burns, Don Thomas, Matt Hinitt, Mike Flores, Rob Finelli, Don Campbell, Tammy Campbell, Jen Nichols
