2012 Sand Sports Super Show Was Bigger Again

| September 19, 2012

It was only a few years ago when I described the Sand Sports Super Show as overwhelming to every sensory in your body.  The lights were bright on all the intricately painted cars, the smell of paddle tire rubber was thick in the air and the buzz of deals being made in every corner was piercing.  The Sand Industry has certainly changed, but this weekend was proof that it is far from extinct.

The main vehicle at this years show were hands down the UTV’s … every model … except for Yamaha Rhino’s but rumor has they will be joining the crowd again soon.  Polaris RZR’s were the dominant factor, however Arctic Cat had a very large display and Can-Am launched their brand new UTV at the show on Friday night.  The Kawasaki Teryx was also a featured vehicle in a few of the over hundred exhibitor booths.

The 14th Annual Sand Sport Super Show was not only packed with another increase in participating vendors, but also had multiple family activities including the US Kart Grand Prix SuperMoto Racing, Lucas Oil Team Associated RC Car area and multiple bands playing on the main stage.  Race truck driver BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon and others were signing autographs all weekend. “The show is always full of surprises,” said show manager Shawn Parker.  “There are fun games that the vendors bring to do in their booths and historically this show has seen some of the lowest prices of the season with vendor show rates.”

There was plenty to win with Opportunity Drawings all weekend and the American Sand Association giving away a Sand Limo Baja GTR and Polaris RZR XP 900!  The Sand Limo truck winner is Allan Tyler from Tucson, AZ and Par Deskins from Glendale, AZ won the Polariz RZR XP 900.  The Polaris RZR XP 4 900 will be the yearlong American Sand Association raffle vehicle.

The Sand Sports Super Show took over the Orange County Fair & Event Center Friday September 14 through Sunday September 16th and attracted guests from all over including Mississippi, Michigan, Utah, Arizona and the very popular dune area of Dubai.  “The show has become more of a weekend event than just a walk through attraction,” said Shawn Parker.  “In response we have included a new Saturday Night Party sponsored by Budweiser, a three day discounted pass, and many near-by hotels have responded with show rates.”

On Saturday night the Sand Sports Super Show launched off their first ever Budweiser sponsored Saturday Night Party.  It was a great success!  Exhibitors and customers got to mingle in a more social environment.  The food was amazingly excellent with three food bars: one with pastas, one with meat and potatoes and one a full taco bar.  Speaking of bars, the margarita bar and beer stand were fully prepped and ready to serve. “We know how hard it can be for exhibitors to visit during show hours, so we put this party together to allow them the time to relax and chat,” said Shawn Parker, Show Manager.  “Attendees and guests were also welcome to join to have a chance to enjoy this once a year opportunity to mingle with the elite companies of the sand industry.”

This years show may have just commenced, but I guarantee that they are already putting details into action for the 15th Annual Show!  There is no doubt you will see us there!!  Visit www.sandsportssupershow.com
