Nick Nelson Wins The 2012 Ultra4 Championship On Radflo Shocks
(Fountain Valley, CA – November 2012) Radflo Suspension Technology, a performance suspension manufacturer proudly announces the crowning of Radflo driver Nick Nelson as both the Ultra4 National Champion and Ultra 4 Sportsman of the Year. With a brand new Jimmy’s 4X4 car for the 2012 season, Nelson and his entire team proved what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
The 2012 season did not start off well for Nelson and his team. Steering issues knocked them out early at King of the Hammers after securing the number one starting position. This set back was definitely the turning point for Nelson and refocused the team for the remainder of the season.
The next race for the #4404 was the world famous Mint 400 desert race. Nelson and his crew proved that the new IFS Jimmy’s car had the speed and that his Radflo shocks were definitely up to the challenge with a first in class finish. Next up was a 6th place finish at the Ultra4 Cinco De Baja and a podium finish at the inaugural Ultra 4 run at Crandon, WI.
Nelson’s next challenge was to complete as many laps as possible on the 3 mile track at the Glen Helen Grand Prix. Battling it out with 41 other drivers once again Nelson took home a first place finish.Co-Driver Brett Vogel and Nelson geared up next for the longest off road race in the US. The Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno event is a grueling 534 mile test of man and machine. No one could predict what was in store for the #4404 car. Nelson piloted it from start to finish and a commanding victory with almost an hour lead over 2nd place.
Racing is never easy and the Ultra4 American Rocksports Challenge shortcourse race in Tooele turned out to be a nightmare for Nelson. The team lost the engine in pre-running and could not race. As it turned out it allowed the team time to tear down the car and start prepping it for the final race of the season the Ultra4 Nitto Tire Nationals in Texas.
Next up was to display the #4404 for Radflo at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. The SEMA show is the largest of its kind in the world and has over 100,000 attendees. The car was on display for the entire week and visitors from all over the world enjoyed seeing it.
As soon as the SEMA show ended it was back to around the clock preparation for the final race. The team had to diagnose new engine problems and ended up swapping out the motor again the week of the race. The team drove straight through to Texas and made it just in time for qualifying. 176 miles of rugged Texas terrain later Nelson had a solid 5th place finish and a National Championship!
Reflecting on the season Nelson commented, “Radflo Shocks have been behind us from the beginning from providing a great product to top notch support. We have put 2000+ serious hard miles on them this season alone with no failures to date allowing us to capture a Ultra4 National Championship, Western Series Championship and commanding wins in some of the most prestigious desert races including the Legendary Mint400 and The Longest Off Road Race in the US; Vegas to Reno.”
Radflo Suspension congratulates Nick Nelson and the entire #4404 team on the 2012 season and look forward to another championship in 2013.
