Poison Spyder JK Crusher Flares Now Available In Narrow Width

PoisonSpyderNarrowArches1 NOVEMBER 14, 2012 • BANNING, CA — Poison Spyder Customs has recently introduced a “Narrow” version of its Front Crusher Flares™, the number one selling armored replacement flares for 2007-2013 Jeep JK Wranglers.

The “Standard” width version of these flares, which have been in production since the debut of the Jeep JK, are similar in width to the original equipment plastic flares, providing tire coverage similar to that of a stock Jeep JK. The new “Narrow” Crusher Flares™ are 2” narrower, allowing more of the tire’s width to protrude beyond the extent of the flare.

“The Narrow Crusher Flares™ have been one of our most-requested new products from our customers,” said Poison Spyder Customs, Inc. president Larry McRae, “and the initial response to them has been tremendous.”

The benefits of a narrower flare are mostly realized by those Jeep owners who use their rigs in tight, technical terrain where canyon walls, trees, etc. are directly adjacent to the trail. “The narrow flares are less likely to make contact with tight obstacles on the trail,” explains McRae, adding that “even though they are an armored piece, designed to withstand contact with the rocks, avoiding that contact can avoid hindering forward progress as well as the need to touch up the paint.” The narrower flares also allow for more tire clearance when the suspension is fully articulated.

And of course there are the aesthetic benefits—according to McRae, “these things just look killer on a JK built wide and low with big tires, the way we like to build them at Poison Spyder!”

Structurally, the new Narrow Front Crusher Flares™ are identical to the Standard ones, built with CNC laser cut plate and NC-bent DOM tubing, in either steel or aluminum. The strongest JK flare kit on the market, Crusher Flares™ come complete with a set of inner braces which rigidly anchor the flare to the sturdy inner structural members of the Jeep’s body tub, rather than the JK’s notoriously thin exterior sheetmetal.
