Campbell Ent Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Firebird Raceway
March 18, 2013 (Gilbert, AZ)-Campbell Racing/Southwest Ground Control sponsored driver Wayland Campbell flies with the Pros in the Prolite class at the season opener of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series this past weekend at Firebird Raceway. Coming off a successful finish as the youngest driver to ever compete in the King of the Hammers, still buzzing with excitement, Ron and Shannon thought it would be fun to let him drive the prolite truck for the Lucas Oil Regional race which turned into racing the full National series. Strapping into the #3 Southwest Ground Control sponsored Prolite for the second time knowing he was underpowered, the strategy was to push it towards the front, drive clean and finish the race. Wayland gained knowledge and control with each lap and it showed as he dove into the corners and soared over the jumps. Finishing, rounds 1 & 2 with respectful finishes for his first weekend with the pros. In the next couple of weeks Wayland will be prepping the truck and putting in a new motor just in time for rounds 3 & 4 at Las Vegas Speedway – April 26th – 28th.
