RADAR TIRES MAKES SCORE INTERNATIONAL DEBUT THIS WEEKEND AT SAN FELIPE
Singapore, 6 March 2013 – Radar Tires, and its racing Renegade R5 tire, debuts in the 2013 SCORE Desert Series debut during the 27th MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 season opening race on March 7-10, in San Felipe, Mexico.
This SCORE International race is the first scheduled Class 10 race of the year for Radar Tires, the flagship brand of Omni United, Bronson Motorsports and driver/owner Mike Johnson. The team will compete in an Alumicraft chassis true Class 10 buggy and will use special racing non-DOT size 33X10.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 race tires.
All of the Radar Tires this weekend will feature the Breast Cancer Research Foundation pink ribbon logo. For every Radar tire sold, Omni United will donate $5 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) with a minimum annual donation of $200,000.
Bronson Motorsports owner Mike Johnson will share driving duties with Mike Majesky this weekend. The duo will start ninth in Class 10, as determined in a drawing by SCORE on February 13, 2013.
The 254-mile race course starts and ends under the arches at the north entrance to the fishing village of San Felipe, approximately 120 miles south of the United States border on the east side of the Baja California peninsula along the Sea of Cortez, and will require patience for the experienced team.
“We’re racing the same machine that Mike Majesky and Matt McBride raced and won with during the Mojave Off-Road Racing Enthusiasts (M.O.R.E.) New Years 200 race in Barstow, California,” said Mike Johnson. “We’re optimistic about our race this weekend knowing that both the buggy and Radar Tires were successful in the MORE race.”
“The San Felipe course has changed over the last several years,” continued Johnson, “Our plan for the days leading up to the race to set the team’s race strategy including a pre-run of the course, to determine pit stops, fuel strategies and driver change locations.”
Off-road motorsports was chosen by the newly-formed Radar Racing team to showcase the Renegade R5 M/T tire, which features open blocks for mud dispersion, deep tread blocks, and reinforced shoulders. This tread pattern and rigorous construction is ideal for the surfaces encountered on short course tracks such as Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California and Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona as well as the open desert of Baja California in the legendary SCORE Baja 1000, the most iconic of all off-road races.
