Thank you NORRA! What a great event! Old cars, odd cars, going up against desert racing legends, great parties plus fireworks! It was the largest field ever for a NORRA Mexican 1000 and we not only scored 8th overall, we took second place in our class.
For this 4-day offroad rally down the length of the Baja California peninsula, Koenig Racing called on a select group of dez racing friends including racers Shannon and Sabrina Harwell, Valley Off Road Racing CEO Wes Harbor, Locos Mocos ace Rocket Radbourne, plus team owner Mike Koenig.
Every day we enjoyed dicing it out with Class 1 cars and Class 8 trucks, people with a lot more horsepower than us. It wasn’t your usual desert race. Some notes from Chase Captain Sabrina Harwell’s race log: DAY ONE: 10:01 AM, chase crew helped replace third member on our Total Chaos equipped Toyota Tacoma. Loved Bay of Los Angeles. DAY TWO: No problems, great fiesta dinner in Loreto! DAY THREE: Replaced the third member again, but stayed in awesome La Paz Hotel. DAY FOUR: Fixed broken wheel bearing, came in second in class to Jerry Herbst, celebrated at Javier’s Blue Azul in Cabo!
Koenig Racing would like to thank all our terrific sponsors including TOTAL CHAOS Fabrication, Dezert People Films, Currie Rear Ends, Rugged Radios, Doug Thorley, Off Road Warehouse, Toyota T-Ten, King Shocks and Drift Innovation Action Cameras. Next race, the VORRA Yerington 300, May 25-27, in beautiful Yerington, Nevada.
