Dsquared Racing Finishes in Badlands and Qualifies for KOH 2014

Colorado based Dsquared Racing announces a 15^th place finish in the 2013 Ultra 4 Regional Series Race at Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, Indiana June 29^th. The race hosted just over 30 Ultra 4 competitors and was a two hour lap race. Although the previous year was noted for dusty conditions causing poor visibility, this year extensive rain and mud changed track conditions considerably. Attica hosted a parade and festival that the competitors participated and on race day an estimated 8000 fans were in attendance.

“Racing in the mud and conditions caused by the rain was a new experience for us,” said Darren Henke, driver of the #4441 car. The team did face some challenges during the race, including a temporary stall after hitting a hole with water that was higher than the hood of the car, a broken rear axle shaft, and air flow issues caused by caked up mud on front radiator. “I was out of the car more in this race than the last three years combined. The wireless and hands free headset from Rugged really came in handy and allowed me to keep my hands free while winching and climbing and still communicate to the driver.” Said Darlene Henke, co-driver of the #4441 car.

In addition to the 15^th place finish and addition series points, Dsquared was able to secure a qualifying spot for the 2014 King of the Hammers. The team is currently back in Colorado prepping the # 4441 car for the upcoming Ultra 4 race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT on July 13^th – The American Rocks Sports Challenge. This will be the 3^rd year the team has raced at this track and will be on the hunt for a top finish and solid points gain heading into the National Championships in September.

D2 Racing is the husband and wife racing team of Darren and Darlene Henke from Golden, CO. 2013 will be the team’s third full season of racing in Ultra 4. In 2012 they finished 7^th overall in the series on points and hope to improve their standings in 2013. Although the primary focus is the Ultra 4 Series, the team also competes in some Best in the Desert Races and Colorado competitions.
