Casey Currie Welcomes Newest Sponsor Detroit Locker Just in Time for Glen Helen Round of LOORS Championship

| August 2, 2013

Casey CurrieCORONA, Calif. (July 26, 2013) – Casey Currie recently welcomed his newest sponsor to the Monster Energy/General Tire team, as Detroit Locker, a division of torque controlling differentials from Eaton Corporation, will join the squad just in time for this weekend’s 9th and 10th rounds of the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) from Glen Helen Raceway.

Since the conclusion of the previous stop of the championship from Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park, Currie and his team have been hard at work on making improvements to the one-of-a-kind Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK that made its debut last month. The distinct, aggressive look of the truck is a fitting complement to the high-performance capabilities of the Detroit Locker product.

“My entire team has been putting in the hours to make our race truck better. We’ve made some great changes and we’re ready for this weekend’s race at Glen Helen on Saturday and Sunday night,” said Currie. “We are excited about our new partner, Detroit Locker. I have been running Detroit Lockers on my Jeeps for years, and now with my new Jeep JK it’s the perfect fit! Detroit Locker makes the ultimate locker for all off-road applications!”

Currie currently sits fifth in the Pro Lite standings following eight rounds of action this season. At the championship’s previous stop one month ago, Currie showed impressive speed in the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK, but following bad racing luck in each race, Currie’s results weren’t a reflection of how well he performed throughout the weekend.

With the season at its halfway point, Currie is eager to return to the track and put the Jeep JK at the front of the field. As a former champion and multiple race winner, he knows what it takes to succeed and the entire Monster Energy/General Tire team’s efforts have gone into establishing Currie as one of the Pro Lite division’s most formidable contenders, which is highlighted by the signing of Detroit Locker.

Currie will take to the track for the first time this weekend on Friday morning for practice. Rounds 9 and 10 from Glen Helen will be unique in that each will be the first races of the 2013 season to be run under the lights at night. The cooler temperatures are sure to have an effect the track surface and play a role in the overall handling of the truck, which will make Friday’s practice sessions even more important as the team makes preparations for Saturday and Sunday evening.

Casey Currie“Racing at night is always something special because there is a buzz unlike anything you feel during the day,” said Currie. “The excitement is higher and the racing becomes more intense. It’s a lot of fun from inside the truck and I know its even more exciting for the fans. We’re going to have to take advantage of the track time on Friday to get the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK dialed in for the conditions.”

Qualifying for Rounds 9 and 10 will also take place on Friday, beginning with an early afternoon session to set the field for Saturday’s race, and concluding with a final session in the early evening to set the grid for Sunday.

On Saturday night Currie and his Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK will line up for Round 9 action, with the green flag scheduled to wave just before 9 p.m. PST. On Sunday, Currie and his competitors will do it all over again for Round 10, which will bring the weekend to a close.

Tickets for this weekend’s action are still available through the LOORS website for Saturday and Sunday or the entire weekend. Fans unable to make it out to the track can keep up to date on everything from Glen Helen Raceway through Live Timing and Scoring.
