On Saturday February 13th 2010  Whiplash had their first race of the season for trucks, buggies, and UTV‘s; However this year would be different from all the prior years. Whiplash is running a short course and a desert series, with the short course race on Saturday and desert series race on Sunday. With the Parker 425 the week before and Battle at Primm the week after attendance was low, but that wouldn’t stop the exciting action of off-road racing.

Short course action started on Saturday with practice in the morning and racing in the afternoon there would be plenty of action. A lot of the desert racers raced on Saturday as well as some short course racers looking for more seat time before the Lucas Oil Series.  Racing started with the trophy karts. There were 13 kids entered in the kart class with plenty of side by side racing action. In the short course trophy kart novice novice; Justin Mitchell took 1st with Brent Monroe Jr inched 2nd and Jarrett Elders sweeping 3rd. In the trophy kart beginner class,  the girls dominated over the boys. Kali Kinsman took 1st with Kate Radavich sweeping 2nd and Mia Chapman inching out 3rd. Next was the sport limited class with Alan League dominating first, then Brandon Birmingham sweeping 2nd and Ryan Therkildsen battling for 3rd.  A few desert racers battled it out in the sport unlimited class. With Ed Melton taking 1st and the father son team of Ed and Harley White taking 2nd.  Next was the high flying action of the UTV class with 15 cars it would prove to be some exciting action. Bobby Raber took 1st with Duane Bartlett sweeping 2nd and Robert Van Beekum following closely in 3rd. After that was the super buggy pro, with Loren Brown sweeping first and Wade Wyman taking 2nd. The final race of the day was the super buggy sport, Gerald King took first closely followed by Tatum Ronco. In the End it was a great day of racing.

Desert racing started on Sunday, The track was modified and extended to use the short course track to start and end. Halfway through the short course track the racers exited the track to a desert section which extended two miles into the desert which made it fun for the racer because it was more technical. The first race of the day was the trophy kart race, even though they raced the same course it was still exciting door banging action. In the the trophy kart novice class Brent Monroe Jr took 1st, Jerrett Elders took 2nd and Courtney Hukill swept 3rd. Next was the trophy kart beginner class, The girls dominated once again with Kate Radavich  in first, Kali Kinsman sweeping second. Not to be shown up Leland Honeyman Jr battled 3rd. The next race was the truck and buggy race. The trucks and buggies ran together with a land rush start for the buggies then trucks. After the dust settled In class one John Martensen took first. In class 8 Scott McCracken battled with the father son team of Ed and Harley White for 1st place. In sport limited Brandon Birmingham fought for 1st. In 1450 Ruben Federico took 1st. Next was the UTV race their was loop was 3 miles father into the desert which ran in and out of the washes. With 18 cars entered the UTV’s battled it out for an hour. In Pro Mod UTV John Eller clinched 1st, with Brian Bush battled for 2nd and Duane Bartlett swept the 3rd place spot. In Sport Mod UTV,  Todd Ouellette battled for the 1st place spot with Ty Wolfskill taking 2nd and Jerry Thompson rounded out the 3rd place spot. That would end a great weekend of racing next race will be in Holbrook, Az a race in the high country of northern Arizona.
