Marshall MotoArt Safari Cage and Hi-Lift Jack – Another in the Borneo Series

ma2When we decided to go to Borneo one of the first problems we needed to deal with was a lack of storage on the RZR.  It takes a lot of gear to go on an expedition like this.  We need to be mostly self contained with limited expectation of support form other members.  We have seen several of the rigs Chris Burke at Marshall MotoArt in West Eden Utah has built and we knew he was the man for the job.  What we needed was something with a roof rack that could hold quite a bit of gear.  In addition we wanted a cage with a bit more support.  Suffice to say if you can dream it up Chris can build it for you.  One of our challenges for Chris was where to mount a shovel and a Hi-Lift Jack.  A full size shovel and the Hi-Lift are required for the expedition.   Both are bulky and ma6heavy and really don’t fit anywhere.  Well not anymore.  The Safari style cage Chris built has a large roof rack with a raised railing and the supports for the railing have 5/16″ weld nuts that allow use to bolt items to the outside of the roof rack.  On the rear Chris made customer studs that allow the Hi Lift Jack to be securely bolted on with out rattling or hitting the cage anywhere and it is up out of the way so we won’t be whacking soft tissue against it.

Hi-Lift Jacks are remarkable equipment and jacking up your rig is just one of its possible functions.  It can be used to pry open vehicles after an accident, use it as winch or use it to pull fence posts.  Hell I’ll bet it will bend bars to get your delinquent buddies out of jail.  Hi-Lift recently introduced a UTV version of there popular jacks.  This jack has all the same great functions and capacity of their standard vehicle jacks, just a bit smaller.  All the accessories like the sand pad, and wheel lift mate are interchangeable.  In fact we have both going on the expedition with us.  The 36 inch Hi-Lift ma3Jack fits perfectly across the rear of the new Safari cage and will certainly lift our rig plenty high for just about anything we can imagine.
