LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Determination. Enthusiasm. Knowledge. Endurance.  These are just a few words that describe the internal workings behind the Rockstar Energy Racing off road team led by 19 time off road racing champion, Rob MacCachren.  Racing multiple series in four different race vehicles, Rob MacCachren has earned two championships in 2009, one in each off road racing discipline.

The 2009 desert racing season culminated this weekend at the SNORE Rage at the River two-day race held in Laughlin, Nevada.  The stakes were high as MacCachren came to the race weekend with the championship within reach, but he still needed to have two flawless days of racing.  By the weekend’s end, Rob MacCachren was crowned the 2009 SNORE Overall Desert Racing Champion.

Racing his AlumiCraft single-seat 1600 car all season long, MacCachren demonstrated his uncanny ability to win races, earning victories in four of the five races he competed in.  MacCachren was forced to miss one race due to a scheduling conflict while he was racing his Pro 2 truck in the 2009 TORC Series in the Midwest.

Perhaps one of the most impressive races of the season was his performance at the challenging Mint 400, where the Las Vegas native not only won the 1600 class, but finished in 7th place overall among the unlimited trophy trucks and class 1 cars.

MacCachren commented, “We abused the new AlumiCraft single seat car, along with the BFGoodrich Tires and FOX Racing Shox all season long.  This championship is a testament to the strength of our race team partners and the incredible products that they continue to develop.  FAT Performance has worked hard all year long building our race engines and FOLTS Transmissions have really been solid helping to secure the championship season.  SNORE really has a great series and next season is even going to be better.  I’ve been racing SNORE my entire career and it doesn’t get any better than this.”

The final race weekend wasn’t without a gasp.  In lap four of the five-lap race, MacCachren nearly turned the car upside down as he race side-by-side with the competition.  “It was really close and I can’t believe we didn’t go all the way over.  We got a bit lucky there,” said Rob.

Winning the 2009 SNORE Championship adds to the extensive list of season championships over Rob MacCachren’s career, but to the modest off road racing champion, it’s just another day at the office.

“Winning championships is why we race, but we are already looking towards to the 2010 season and that starts in only a few weeks,” said MacCachren.

Rockstar Energy Racing returns to the track on Saturday, December 19, 2009 for the final short course race of the season as the #21 Ford F-150 takes to the track in the Rockstar Energy Lucas Oil Challenge at the Kalgaard Motorsports park in Lake Elsinore, California.
