Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named Christopher Ostrander as president of its North America Tire Operations effective Jan. 17.

Ostrander, who also will serve on the company’s executive committee and as an officer for the company, will succeed NATO Chairman, President and CEO Roy Armes, according to a press release. The release didn’t mention Armes’ status with the company. Armes became CEO on Jan. 1, 2007, and chairman of the board on Dec. 19, 2007.

Ostrander will lead Cooper’s more than $2 billion North America operations, which produces tires for passenger cars and light trucks. Mickey Thompson, a developer and distributor of specialty and off-road tires, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooper Tire.

Most recently, Ostrander worked as vice president and general manager of Eaton Corporation’s Torque Control Products Division. Prior to joining Eaton in 2004, Ostrander held leadership roles at BOC Group PLC and with the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
