Lovell Brothers To Tackle The Baja 1000 With BFGoodrich Tires

| November 14, 2012

lovellbaja1(Colorado Springs, CO 11/11/12) – So what do you do after a great season of short course and rock racing? Clean everything up, take a quick breather, and head to the Baja 1000.

Brad & Roger Lovell will join an all-star team to help pilot the BFGoodrich Tires BC-2 car. Long-time racers for BFG, the brothers were fortunate enough to win the seats through a popular vote and once again race the legendary SCORE Baja 1000.

This year’s race is 1121 miles long and spans the entire length of the peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz. Hurricane damage has added some new challenges as the team witnessed during pre-running of the course in late October. “I am in awe of this race,” said Brad Lovell, “Its not just a desert race, it is an epic land race. You race through mountains, paved roads, villages, forests, jungles, and even swamps. Its a race of adventure and survival more than shaving tenths of a second off the corners.”

The race will start Thursday, Nov. 15th and the BFGoodrich Tires BC-2 car is expected to leave the start line at approximately 1:00 pm PST. Competitors have until approximately 10:00 am Sat. to reach the finish-line.

The BC-2 car will be relayed down the peninsula by Bud Brutsman (driver of record), Brad Lovell, Luke Wilwert, Roger Lovell, Kyle Tucker, and Michael Crawford. No doubt safety is a top concern for this factory effort, and Mastercraft / Impact was chosen to supply the team with trusted and dependable safety gear for the race.

There is no question that BFGoodrich is the tire of choice for off-road as their design, experience, and knowledge of the brutal Baja terrain is unmatched. Their history and success in Baja racing is unmatched. BFGoodrich will have an in-house network of 8 pits along the course to support not only the BC-2 car, but any vehicle running their tires. AMSOIL is supporting the efforts as well through supplying these pits with high quality fluids.

About Lovell Racing: 25 years ago, Brad Lovell was bouncing around in the back seat of his father’s Bronco in the backwoods of Colorado. The family camping trips turned into a passion for Brad and his brother Roger. After spending a decade tackling the toughest off-road trails in the country the pair entered their first rockcrawl and went on to win 6 consecutive season championships. Since then the brothers have earned multiple wins while racing in nearly every type of off-road discipline – desert, rocks, hill climbs, and short course racing. The team’s focus is winning the TORC Series where Brad pilots the #44 AMSOIL Torchmate Nissan Frontier. The 2012 season holds a variety of races for the team including King of the Hammers, Vegas to Reno, the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and World Championship racing at Crandon.
