Race Prep Racing #4474 to Take the First Green Flag at King of the Hammers

| January 14, 2013

king of the hammersSimi Valley, CA – Race Prep Racing’s Unlimited Ultra4 car #4474 will be the first pro class car to take the green flag during the famous King of the Hammers week held in Johnson Valley, CA February 3-9.  Richie Carter, the three-time driver of the team’s Falken sponsored car will be the first to tackle the qualifier course on Tuesday morning when racing begins.  The course remains a heavily guarded secret, but this premier starting position offers the team a clean race course, before the other 150+ racers have had a chance to dig it up and alter its difficulty.  This could prove to be a huge advantage for this seasoned racer.

“There are no guarantees at King of the Hammers.  Weather plays a big part in affecting the course, as do the other racers and how they attack it, but being first in the race for starting position means the course will look the most like it did when I practiced it last and that is a huge advantage”, said Carter on Thursday night when his name was read off at the live broadcast.  The team will get the course layout, which usually includes rock sections and open desert to challenge all of the racers in this multi-faceted class, when they arrive in jessi combs king of the hammers warnJohnson Valley, CA on February 1st.  Carter will practice the course to determine the best lines and transitions before he attempts Tuesday’s timed run.
When asked about this starting position and race week in general, Carter replied, “I’ve raced KOH for four years but I never take it lightly.  It’s a marathon, not a sprint and the qualifier is just the starting gate.  I am proud to represent the companies who are on board supporting us and I hope we can make a good showing out there.  Taking the first green flag of the week in our class will be awesome but wherever we start the main race on Friday we are ready to battle all that The Hammers and [race founder] Dave Cole has planned for us.”
