Team Lovell Climbs in Points After Stellar Weekend in Crandon

| July 2, 2013

Lovell Racing 2Colorado Springs, CO 7/2/13 – Team Lovell made major strides this weekend climbing from 5th in the 2013 TORC Series standings for a firm grasp on 3rd place and finally in the hunt for the top spot at the mid-point of the season. This comes after a commanding performance in Crandon with two 2nd Place finishes.

There is a reason that northern Wisconsin is so green – lots of rain. Storms pounded Crandon before the weekends festivities canceling practice and qualifying. The field was left with a single test lap before the infamous land rush start into turn #1. “I wanted to qualify,” adds Brad, “But we did our homework and made sure to test before the weekend so we were pretty prepared.” With confidence in hand Lovell got the hole shot and sped through turn #1 on two wheels yeilding the lead to Kincaid who would nearly tip in turn #2 giving the front spot back to Lovell. The two would continue to battle before Lovell finished 2nd. “I felt some G’s leaving the line as the BFG’s hooked up. I had so much speed going into turn #1 I knew it was going to get good! Awesome race and great track after the heavy rains!”

Lovell Racing 1The second day of racing was under sunny skies and a near perfect race track. Lovell and Kincaid would have a near identical start as the previous day before a pileup caused a restart. The now thinned field repeated the feat with Lovell taking position in 2nd which he would hold comfortably up until the mandatory caution. As the green again flew, Greaves put heavy pressure on Lovell. “I could see him sticking his nose in there on the turns and I just worked to stay focussed and hitting my marks. I knew if I didn’t bobble, he couldn’t catch me. It was great racing!” Brad held on to the position for another 2nd place finish. “A big thanks to our team this weekend who came from all across the country to help get these results.”

The team now sits in 3rd place in the Traxxas TORC Series at the midway point of the season. The gremlins that plagued the team early in the season are gone and the #1 AMSOIL / Torchmate / BFGoodrich Tires Pro-Light is as strong as ever. The team now heads west for the final event in the Dirt Riot Mountain Series in Cortez, Colorado this coming weekend. With commanding driving performances from both Brad and Roger, the brothers are 1st in series points and look to push hard in their home state.

Watch for news on July 6th as Brad will pilot the #1 AMSOIL / Torchmate / BFGoodrich Tires rock racer in the the Cortez, CO Dirt Riot race.
