DragonFire Locked & Loaded For Inaugural Laughlin Desert Classic

DF16_FB_Lacrecia_LaughlinChandler, AZ, May 5, 2016 — Although this weekend’s Laughlin Desert Classic is new to the Best In The Desert series, and features a two-day format instead of the traditional winner take all single-day desert races, some things haven’t changed! DragonFire is busting out its big guns for the “Duel In The Desert” with high caliber talent like 3X Mint 400 winner Lacrecia Beurrier, short course top gun Bobby VanBeekum and a pair of sharp-shooters from the East, Jimmy Keys and Russell Griffin.

“Team DragonFire is locked and loaded,” says Operations & Race Team Manager Brice Ginn. “We had a couple misfires at The Mint 400, he admits. “But we are re-loaded and on target for the Laughlin Desert Classic.”

Last year’s big bore Unlimited UTV class champion Lacrecia Beurrier is fired up about moving up to the Pro ranks for 2016. She heads into Laughlin sitting in 6th place, but anything can happen is the desert… and usually does! “There are more than 60 UTVs in this class,” she says. “It is the biggest field in BITD racing.”

While it is an amazing accomplishment for a part-time pro racer/full-time ER nurse to be running in the top 10% of the best UTV racers in the world, Lacrecia is not settling for anything but the win! “We are just 14 points out of 2nd place and are definitely a contender for the crown,” says DragonFire’s female fire breather!

After a DNF spoiled his Mint 400 debut, veteran racer Bobby VanBeekum heads into Laughlin with something to prove. The 2015 Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Production 1000 champ, VanBeekum is now gunning for a Best In The Desert title, too. “While not banging doors in every corner, desert racing is just as intense… and much longer! Physically and mentally demanding, but I am ready for the challenge.”

UTV Rally Raid series competitors Jimmy Keys and Russell Griffin are used to the challenge of endurance-style racing — 4 hour sprints through the woods. “We should have the advantage since there are no trees in the way in Laughlin,” jokes Jimmy. After finishing as the top DragonFire team at The Mint 400, the Keyscrete team moved into the top 10 in BITD standings, less than 100 points out of first place and only 23 points behind Lacrecia. “We’ve got her in our sights… let’s hope it isn’t too dusty so we can see her on race day!”
